What is a facelift operation?
A facelift is a cosmetic operation that tightens and smoothes the face and neck to provide it with a youthful and new look. A facelift, also known as rhytidoplasty, lifts the skin, underlying tissues, and face muscles to cure saggy skin, wrinkles, absence of muscle definition, and other indications of aging.

How is facelift operation performed?
A facelift is often done under general anaesthesia, while some operations, including a mini-facelift, may require local anaesthesia and sedation. It normally takes 2 to 3 hours to complete.
Facelifts come in a variety of forms, but generally, the physician will create incisions over the hairline from the temples, downwards next to the ear, below the earlobe, and in the back of the ear. The doctor will create incisions below the chin if the patient wants the jawline to be raised.

Recovering post facelift operation
You could have minimal itchiness or some pain when you regain the sensation. It could require months for the soreness to disappear. In most cases, recovery takes 4 – 6 weeks. However, the full outcome of the operation will most likely take 3 – 4 months.
